Profile I started fishing at a very young age under the guidance of my Dad, serving my angling apprenticeship barbel and chub fishing on the middle Severn and carp and tench fishing on local lakes.

Always had a fascination with larger fish so was destined to head down the specimen path and after finishing University in 1997 really got into my fishing and not looked back since.

One of the pivotal moments was a chance meeting with Steve Hitch at a Midlands Barbel Society regional meeting in 2001 where Steve invited me down for a look on the Society's Lower Severn fishery Beauchamp Court. This proved the start of a healthy friendship and subsequent good working relationship with Steve and I spent many a happy day down at Beauchamp Court catching lots of fish including my first double figure barbel of 12lb 9oz.

I have served on the Barbel Society committee since January 2002 and continue to support its aims and objectives.

I love the challenge of trying different rivers and lakes and although I spend the majority of my time fishing for barbel I do enjoy and fish for other species. Outside of fishing I love travel, all sport and am a keen online and tournament poker player.

Angling highlights I have been fortunate enough to have some great catches over the years I have been fishing… a 37 fish (barbel) catch in the day from the middle Severn, a 13lb 8oz barbel from the middle reaches of the Hampshire Avon on only my third visit.

The highlight so far came in November 2010 when I was lucky enough to land a 17lb 10oz barbel from the River Dove (at the time) a new river record and the reward for 3 years hard work.

What's the future for your fishing I am hoping to find the time to put more articles and features together… and who knows maybe join some of the others on the talk and slideshow circuit!

Whatever happens I will continue to try new venues; I have a few in line with the aim to improve my PB's but most of all to continue enjoy my fishing, as that is what it is all about.
